History

The Beginning

Founded in 1990 by 2 entrepreneurs, Fontaine Santé Foods Inc. started off with 17 employees. Its concept was well received from the very start, and the company grew quickly, despite the bleak economic situation at the time. It was, of course, the quality of the products that ensured the company’s success.

The Growth:

It was in 1992 that Fontaine Santé Foods really began to experience rapid growth. This helped position the company in Quebec, and the Fontaine Santé brand became synonymous with quality, freshness and variety.

With more and more of its products available in the refrigerated section of supermarket chains in Quebec, Fontaine Santé Foods gradually became a forerunner in its class. From its Végé-Pâté to the Hummus with vegetables and its famous Tofu Spread, the company turned old-world specialities into tasty dishes that are good for you too.


A New Era:

Twelve years after it was founded, the company is producing at full capacity and is generating 80% of the sales in its main category in supermarkets. It was also approached to penetrate the North American market.

Since October 2002, major investments have been made to expand the company’s facilities and to acquire new state-of-the-art equipment. This will help to improve quality control as well as the shelf life of the products, but naturally without the use of preservatives, chemical additives or monosodium glutamate (MSG).

In keeping with its mission, Fontaine Santé Foods is setting out to capture the North American market in 2003. Naturally, it will maintain a strong presence in Quebec, its primary market, where its objective is to become a major player in shaping the diet of Quebeckers.
